Introducing geoQguide:
the constraints master

geoQguide is a key tool that animates and brings life to QGIS on analyzing and managing constraints for renewable energy land developement:

  • It provides access to a large curated collection of public analysis layers (online WMS and downloadable files).

  • Converts extensive registry details (200 parcels and more) into a target plot vector geometry with one click.

  • Automatically evaluates overlap between analysis layers and target plot - for hundreds of layers.

  • Automatically retrieves Open Street Map elements (roads, waterways, substations, pipelines, power lines, etc.), and draws buffer zones around them.

  • Automatically carries out a slope analysis on the target plot, visualizing the direction of slope (south, north, et.) and the acceptable slope levels (green-yellow-red gradient).

  • Enables to process each constrain semi-automatically, by classifying the related impact as red (exclude), yellow (cost/risk), or grey (no impact - for reference only), and to identify and vectorize the corresponding areas automatically.

  • Allows to save the analysis directly within the QGIS project, make it easy to share with third parties for feedback and comments.
